UNI Wrestling Heads to MAC Championships
The Mid-American Conference championships this weekend will determine how many UNI wrestlers will compete at the NCAA national tournament.
UNI earned four top seedings, and five more earned a top seven spot. The MAC originally was allocated 41 spots that automatically qualify for nationals.
The seedings and number of wrestlers who automatically qualify by weight class:
- 125 – No. 1 Dylan Peters (4)
- 133 – No. 1 Joe Colon (5)
- 141 – No. 3 Joey Lazor (5)
- 149 – No. 6 Tyler Patten (4)
- 157 – No. 7 Jarrett Jensen (5)
- 165 – No. 1 Cooper Moore (3)
- 174 – No. 4 Cody Caldwell (5)
- 184 – No. 1 Ryan Loder (5)
- 197 – Jared Bartel (2)
- 285 – No. 4 Blaize Cabell (3)
MAC COMPETITION:
There are 49 wrestlers ranked in the Coaches Poll, including five in the top five with No. 1 Colon (UNI), No. 1 Drake Houdasheldt (Missouri) at 149 pounds; No. 2 J’Den Cox (Missouri) at 197 pounds), No. 4 Chris Mecate (Old Dominion) at 141 pounds and No. 5 Ian Miller (Kent State) at 157 pounds.
Last year 11 MAC wrestlers earned All-America titles.

- Saturday:
- 11 a.m. - Preliminary matches
- noon - Quarter finals
- 3 p.m. – Consolation rounds 1 (one mat)
- Championship semifinals (two mats)
- 4:45 – Consolation round 2 (three mats)
- Sunday:
- 11 a.m. – Consolation semifinals (three mats)
- 12:20 p.m. – Championship, finals, third-place matches and fifth-place matches (three mats)
NCAA qualifying spot matches to follow if necessary.
