Six men from the Chicago area have been charged in connection with an armed robbery in Waterloo late Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 15, 2015).

Charged with first-degree robbery are:

  • Roosevelt Brown, 20, of Harvey, Ill.
  • James Harden, 29, of Markham, Ill.
  • Don N. Redmond, 29, of Harvey, Ill.
  • Jeffrey A. Kemp, 39, of Chicago, Ill.
  • Lawerence D. Adkinson, 27, of Hazel Crest, Ill.

The sixth suspect, Dominique Walker, 22, of Harvey, Ill., is charged with being an accessory to first-degree robbery and third-degree theft.

The suspects were all booked into the Clayton County jail near St. Olaf. They were taken into custody at the Pines Motel in Postville on Wednesday (Sept. 16, 2015).

Authorities believe each of the men were involved in an armed robbery at a Waterloo cellphone store shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday. According to Waterloo police, two of the men entered iWireless at 1523 E. San Marnan Drive, and ordered the employee into a back room at gunpoint.

An undisclosed amount of cash and cellular telephones were taken during the robbery, Waterloo police said. The employee was not injured.
