The Wartburg Knights football team continues its huge 2014 season this weekend ranked as the number six team in the nation.

The Knights moved up to the number six ranking in two national polls this week. The d3football.com Top 25 poll and the AFCA Top 25 poll both rank the black and orange squad as the sixth best team in the country.

The highest ranking in program history is No. 4 which occurred in week 11 and the final 2003 poll.

Wartburg Football also ranks in the top 100 of 35 statistical categories which the NCAA released on October 13, 2014. As a team, the Knights are: first in winning percentage (1.000) and blocked punts allowed (0), fourth in team passing efficiency (199.17), eighth in passing yards per completion (17.66), ninth in scoring defense (9.0), and 10th in total defense (237.0).

Junior quarterback Logan Schrader is seventh in passing efficiency (192.5). Schrader has thrown 14 touchdowns this season and averages 277.6 yards per game.

This past week, Junior Cole Hinders (Dysart) was named the Iowa Conference's top weekly performer for defense. The defensive lineman posted eight tackles (five solo and 2.0 for a loss). He also scored one sack in Wartburg's 43-0 win at Coe this past weekend. He set new season-highs in all tackle categories. , the conference office announced today.

This Saturday, October 18, 2014, the Knights will host the University of Dubuque. Kickoff is set for 1:30 PM at Walston-Hoover Stadium.
