Quarterback Logan Schrader broke one school record and tied another in the sixth-ranked Wartburg Knights' 31-14 victory over Coe on Saturday (Oct. 10, 2015).

The senior signal-caller became Wartburg's all-time career leader in passing yards, surpassing the old record of 7,548 held by Nick Yordi (2007-2009). Schrader established the new mark on a 31-yard touchdown pass to classmate Robbie Anstoetter (Farley/Beckman Catholic) late in the first quarter.

Schrader (Killdeer, Ill.) entered Saturday's game needing 92 yards to break the record, and ended the afternoon with 251 (24-37-1, 2 TDs.) Anstoetter led all receivers with 90 yards on eight catches and one touchdown.

Schrader later tied another school record when he threw his 59th career touchdown pass on a 26-yard toss to classmate Zach Hiller (Waseca, Minn.) on the Knights' first drive of the fourth quarter. Schrader is now tied with Yordi and Matt Wheeler, the Knights' current offensive coordinator and a 2011 Wartburg Athletics Hall of Fame inductee.

Coe (2-3 overall, 1-1 IIAC) took a 7-0 lead, scoring on its opening drive. The Kohawks faced just one third down while marching 77 yards in six plays. On third-and-five from the Wartburg seven-yard-line, quarterback Josh Rekers (Dike/Dike-New Hartford) hooked up with Mitchell Malloy (Riverside, Ill.) on a touchdown pass, giving Coe the early advantage with 12:15 to play in the first quarter.

Wartburg (5-0 overall, 2-0 IIAC) quickly answered Coe's early score, marching 74 yards in nine plays in less than three minutes. The Knights evened the score with a two-yard touchdown run from Brandon Domeyer (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware), who finished the day with 98 yards on 17 carries.

Schrader's record-setting TD toss to Anstoetter put the Knights ahead 14-7 with 3:02 remaining in the second quarter, an edge they extended to 17-7 at the half. Michael Bohlke (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) booted a career-best 35-yard field goal with 30 seconds left, extending his record as Wartburg's all-time leader in that category.

The Knights' boosted their lead to 24-7 on a one-yard touchdown run by Schrader with 4:26 left in the third quarter. Schrader's 59th career TD pass later capped the scoring for Wartburg early in the fourth quarter.

Coe's only second-half score came on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Rekers to Kazumasa Ikoma (Misato-shi, Saifawa) late in the third quarter.

Wartburg rushed for nearly 200 more yards than the Kohawks, holding a 231-34 advantage.

Senior Gunner Tranel (Vinton/Vinton-Shellsburg) led the Knights' defense with 11 tackles (two solo and nine assists), while sophomore Hunter Baldus (Cedar Rapids/Xavier) had a career-best 3.0 tackles for a loss of 20 yards, which included two sacks for a loss of 17 yards.
