Four people were arrested on drug and weapons charges following an overnight traffic stop in Waterloo.

According to police, officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation near E. 4th and Walnut streets around 10 p.m. Thursday (June 18, 2015). During the investigation, officers detected an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

Authorities said they recovered several quantities of marijuana, a digital scale and packaging material during the traffic stop.

Police arrested Makayla Chamberlin, 17, and Deshawn Lee Jackson, 16, on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana. Also taken into custody was Jordan Marie Reiter, 18, who was charged with providing false identification and carrying weapons in addition to being served with multiple arrest warrants.

Officials identified a fourth passenger as Dennis William Washington, 24, of Waterloo. Police said they found a stun gun on him and a loaded .22 caliber handgun, which was reported stolen earlier this year, near him in the backseat. Washington was charged with two counts of carrying weapons.

All of the suspects were booked into the Black Hawk County jail on their charges.
