Nearly a dozen people are charged with prostitution in Waterloo. Authorities took the suspects into custody at a local hotel on Tuesday (April 28, 2015).

According to Waterloo police, the arrests are part of an on-going investigation into human trafficking that also involves the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Police said hotel officials cooperated with the investigation.

In all, 11 people were taken into custody on prostitution charges. In addition to the arrests, police said an investigation into pimping is being conducted and more charges could be filed in the case.

  • Adem Sakanovic, 42, of Waterloo
  • Stephen Thomas, 46, of Marion
