Why Jessie J is ‘Disappointed’ Over Comparisons to Channing Tatum’s ex Jenna Dewan
The girl power-fueled singer addressed recent headlines comparing her appearance to that of boyfriend Channing Tatum's ex-wife, Jenna Dewan, in a poignant Instagram post. Jessie, 30, noted that she doesn't often comment on stories online, but felt it was important to speak out against publications pitting her and Dewan against one another based on looks.
"I rarely, but sometimes see that my name is involved in stories online that I do not agree to. I often ignore them as 99 percent of the time it is something that doesn't serve any positivity to speak on," she said.
"However there is a story I have seen be re-written over and over again in the past few weeks that talks about myself being compared directly to another beautiful woman regarding our looks and people picking who they think is prettier."
The "Domino" singer went on to say that she was ashamed to have her name associated with the story.
"I am so disappointed and embarrassed that my name is even involved. It's not something I stand for, at all," she wrote. "I am a woman that supports ALL women. I am a woman that loves ALL women and will not stand quietly when the media is teaching young girls to constantly compare one another. Or to pick who they think is prettier."
Jessie concluded her message by writing, "we are all BEAUTIFUL."
Dewan, 37, addressed the drama in her own way. The World of Dance star praised Jessie's message on Twitter as "beautiful," adding comment of her own.
"Amen Jessie! Yes!!!! Women for women all the way. No need for negativity. Let's live in a world where we support each other and raise each other up. Like i said before, positive vibes all the way. Nothing but respect," she wrote in a Notes app message.
Earlier this week she responded directly to several fans who commented on the resemblance between her and Jessie on Instagram.
"FIRST OF ALL...whenever I hear of the 'striking resemblance' w/ Jessie J to Jenna Dewan..my only thoughts are ummmmm no. not even close. And I don't have a horse in the race but gf you are untouchable. Just trying to spread positive vibes, keep doing you...to an absolute outsider from a small town you are doing it seemlessly [SIC]," one user wrote.
"Positive vibes all the way," Dewan replied, adding a kissy-face emoji.
Dewan and Tatum are on good terms following their split. The pair even recently reunited to take their daughter, Everly, trick-or-treating. Still, Tatum, 38, has not responded on the comparisons between his current girlfriend and his ex.
The actor seemingly made his relationship with Jessie Instagram official earlier this week, sharing a photo from a stop on the British pop star's R.O.S.E. Tour.
Dewan has also moved on since the split and is dating actor Steve Kazee.
