Wilson's Orchard & Farm in Iowa City is switching things up! They are replacing their BBQ menu with another popular food option.

Back in September of 2020, the ever-popular Wilson's Orchard opened up a new stand for hungry visitors called Wilson's Smokehouse. Located on the edge of the main parking lot at 4823 Dingleberry Rd NE, the stand offered a variety of smoked meats and sides, like brisket, mac & cheese, pulled pork, beans, cornbread, and chicken. A post from Wilson's on social media says that the goal was to provide guests with a "fast and casual dining option when visiting the farm, one that would compliment the full restaurant experience we offer at our Ciderhouse."

After listening to guest feedback over the past three years, Wilson's has decided to replace their smokehouse with something new! Due to the rising cost of meat, supply chain shortages, and the seasonal flow of the farm, they have decided to do away with BBQ and switch to pizza. The post reads:

"We believe pizza will be a great fit for our farm: it’s shareable, a great way to feature locally made and seasonal ingredients, and by making our own dough we can utilize the skills of our great bakery team."

Executive Chef, Matt Steigerwald says that they have come up with a solid pizza recipe that they're very happy with. The menu will be small to start, but they hope to add more as they receive customer feedback. Specials will be based on "what's coming up in the fields."

Wilson’s Pizza will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Each pizza is 12" and cut into 8 slices. The cost is $14.
