Two women were injured in a crash involving a wrong-way driver in southwestern Bremer County Tuesday afternoon (July 5, 2016).

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 218/Iowa Highway 27, just north of the County Road C-50 interchange near Janesville shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sheriff's deputies and Iowa State Patrol troopers responded the scene.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Agnes Proctor, 77, of Waverly, was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the expressway when she approached an on-coming vehicle, driven by Megan Holm, 36, of Minneapolis. State troopers said Holm swerved to avoid a head-on collision, but the vehicles side-swiped each other. Holm's SUV came to rest in the median, while Proctor's car remained on the highway.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital in Waverly, where Holm was treated and released. Proctor's condition was not made available.
