There is a lot of negativity in the world. There are lots of things that stress us out, and many thoughts or actions that get in the way of us being happy. You may not even realize you're doing these things, so acknowledging and confronting them could give you more peace of mind.

Believe me, I battle a lot of these demons myself. It's a lot to overcome, but I think it's valuable. Maybe this list will help you, too!

Luminita Saviuc is a blogger and self-help coach, and "15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy" are her suggestions as to how to embrace change:

1. Give Up Always Being In Control

Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you – situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones, coworkers, or just strangers you meet on the street – just allow them to be.

2. Give Up Self-Defeating Thoughts

3. Give Up Limiting Beliefs

4. Give Up Constant Complaining

No situation can make you sad or miserable unless you allow it to. It’s not the situation that triggers those feelings in you, but how you choose to look at it. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking.

5. Give Up Dwelling On The Past

I know, I know. It’s hard. Especially when the past looks so much better than the present and the future looks so frightening ... The past you are now longing for – the past that you are now dreaming about – was ignored by you when it was present. Stop deluding yourself ... Have a clear vision for the future, prepare yourself, but always be present in the now.

I'm a very negative and cynical person, so this list really resonated with me. It's a work in progress, but I think training your brain to think this way will lead to much better things. What about you? Check out the complete list here.
