We seem to let the monotony of regular life get in the way of us feeling fulfilled. I'm just as guilty as anyone--I wake up, go to work, go home, eat, watch TV, work more, and go to bed. Lather, rinse, repeat. After a while it gets difficult to break the cycle. A new survey from The Independent shows that 20% spend fewer than 30 minutes each day doing things that make us happy.

These are some of the items on the checklist to having a happier, more-fulfilled life:

1.  Spending quality time with your family.

2.  Having time to yourself.

3.  Spending time with friends.

4.  Being outdoors more.

5.  Sleeping well.

More than 1/3 of those surveyed said they "regularly feared missing out on their best life." We collectively have to get better at enjoying life. It's easy to let the everyday stuff bog us down, but self-care and mental health are of the utmost importance.

Read a book, play video games, eat that piece of cake, have a girls' night. Pick your poison; just take time to unwind and focus on your well-being.
