Area Man Hurt When Semi Tips, Spilling Corn

A traffic accident early this (Tuesday, Feb. 13) morning has put an Earlville truck driver in the hospital.

At about 4am, the Linn County Sheriff was alerted of a semi that was on it's side on Highway 13 and Indian Bridge Road, just south of Central City.

The grain semi, driven by 21-year-old Kody Orcutt, had gone out of control, entered the median, and tipped onto it's side, spilling it's load of corn onto the highway. Orcutt was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Linn County Sheriff, one lane of southbound Highway 13 had to be shut down until the semi and corn could be removed from the accident scene.
