Two people have been injured, one seriously, in 2 separate boating incidents on the Coralville reservoir Sunday evening (June 24).

The first incident was reported to Johnson County authorities just before 6pm Sunday; emergency workers responded to the Mehaffey Boat Ramp, where a woman was injured by a boat propeller.

The 22-year-old woman had fallen into the path of a boat as it was backing up. The woman was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City, to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Johnson County Sheriff was again called out, just after 9:30pm Sunday, to the Coralville Lake Marina. An 18-year-old woman fell into the water and was struck by a boat. She was taken to University Hospitals with serious injuries.

No names have been released. The sheriff was assisted in investigating the boating accidents by the Solon Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, and the Army Corps of Engineers.
