Bruno Mars has announced that he will donate $1 million to help the victims affected by the Flint Water Crisis.

During his “24K Magic World Tour” stop in Auburn Hills, Mich., on Saturday (Aug. 12), the Grammy-winning singer candidly told the audience of his charitable donation which is going directly to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. CEO and President Isaiah Oliver confirmed to MLive of Bruno’s gift to the foundation.

"With a grateful heart, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint is honored to accept this inspiring donation," he said. "We know Bruno Mars' $1 million gift will be transformative to the children and families of Flint."

"[Bruno Mars] understands the issues faced by Flint citizens, and we are touched by his concern and generosity," he continued.

Mars also issued a statement thanking the Michigan fans for supporting the cause. "Ongoing challenges remain years later for Flint residents, and it's important that we don't forget our brothers and sisters affected by this disaster," he said. "As people, especially as Americans, we need to stand together to make sure something like this never happens in any community ever again."

Mars joins a list of entertainers who have made sizable donations to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint in the past few years. Rapper Big Sean and R&B superstar Beyonce are among those who have donated to the foundation.

The Mars' donation is being made by the singer himself and tour promoter Live Nation through funds from his Michigan concert.
