I love trying new places...and this will definitely be at the top of my list! An exciting, eclectic eatery will be opening its doors in Iowa City next week.

According to its Instagram page, Melk, located at 116 E. Washington St., promises "cereal shakes, breakfast all day and smashburgers in the heart of downtown Iowa City."

Owner Jacob Pajunen told The Daily Iowan that the menu will offer more than 25 cereals, an assortment of milk options, and fresh fruit toppings, a standard breakfast menu, and a variety of burgers and sandwiches in the afternoon.

Head chef Gabriel Caballero is confident that Melk will become a signature late-night destination for University of Iowa students.

"Melk is definitely going to be the spot at 1:30 in the morning once the students get back. A late-night party is the best kind of party, especially when food’s involved.”

Caballero also pledges to bring a higher quality of food for vegans and those with other dietary needs.

Melk sounds like a great spot, whether you're recovering from a night out, seeking something a little unconventional, or trying to satisfy your inner 10-year-old. Save a seat (and a cereal bowl) for me!
