I, like many others in my generation, am constantly checking my phone. I take it literally everywhere I go and get very anxious if I leave it behind. I doubt I could put my phone away for a week, let alone a whole year. But this might get me to try.

Vitaminwater just announced a new contest which rewards you for going a full year without using your (or anyone else's) smart phone or tablet. You will, however, be issued a "1996-era cellular telephone" if you need to talk to someone.

If you make all the way through an entire 365 days, you'll receive the grand prize of $100,000! If you can last at least six months, you'll still win $10,000. Any length of time less than that and you get NOTHING. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Goose-egg.

And, to make sure you're not trying to be sneaky, you have to agree to take a LIE DETECTOR TEST at the end of the year.

To enter the contest, post on Instagram or Twitter and describe what your year would be like sans smart phone. You must also include the hashtags  #NoPhoneForAYear and #Contest.

It seems like a daunting task...but fear not. You won't be completely cut off from technology. According to Vitaminwater's contest rules, laptops and desktop computers ARE allowed, as well as voice-activated devices such as Google Home or Amazon Echo (so you can tell Alexa to play Q92.3, of course).

Think you can do it? Entries must be submitted by January 8th.
