The Tri-City Storm edged the Waterloo Black Hawks 1-0 on Saturday at Viaero Center in Kearney, Nebraska.

Waterloo had won by the same count in a near identical matchup the night before.

Filip Larsson was Saturday’s winning netminder, turning away 29 shots. Jared Moe suffered the loss despite denying 24 of 25 Tri-City tries.

The Storm scored the only goal in the first period during a power play. The Hawks won the initial draw, but a miscue in the corner allowed the puck to find Tyler Ward in the slot, and the winger snapped a quick shot over Moe’s left shoulder.

Special jerseys will be the theme when the Hawks return to home ice on Friday against the Dubuque Fighting Saints. During the game, Waterloo will wear sweaters commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Sullivan Brothers’ service and sacrifice during World War II. The jerseys are presented by American Pattern & CNC Works and will be up for auction Saturday.

Ahead of Friday’s game, the first 500 kids in attendance aged four to 12 will receive a free Black Hawks youth hockey jersey. For tickets, call the Domino’s Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680 or visit waterlooblackhawks.com.
