“One More”.

Don Bosco players shouted in unison as they broke the huddle on the UNI-Dome turf following their dominating 80-12 victory over Midland of Wyoming in the semifinals of the Iowa High School Football Playoffs in Cedar Falls Thursday morning (Nov. 9, 2017).

The defending eight-player state champion will get the chance to win "one more" when when they play for the title again next week.

Wyatt Sawvel accounted for 360 yards of Don Bosco's offense, while running for four touchdowns and throwing for more. The Dons' quarterback rushed for 160 yards and threw for 200.

The 5-foot-10 senior scored on runs of 44, 17, 34 and 42 yards. Three of Sawvel's touchdowns passes went to Cael Tenold, including a 70-yard strike on the second play of the game.

Don Bosco (12-0) jumped out to a 14-0 lead. The Dons owned a 28-6 advantage after the first quarter and a 48-12 edge at halftime.

The victory extended Don Bosco's winning streak to 20-straight games, currently the longest active run in Iowa (all classes). The contest was a rematch of last year's semifinal, which the Dons won 72-0. Don Bosco also opened its 2017 season with a 60-26 win over the Eagles (9-3) in Gilbertville.

Don Bosco will be seeking its third championship in program history at 10:06 a.m on Thursday (Nov. 16), also at the UNI-Dome. The Dons will face St. Mary's of Remsen in what will be their fifth appearance in the eight-player title game in the past six years. St. Mary's posted a 51-6 win over Fremont-Mills of Tabor in Thursday's other semifinal contest.
