It's 2019. Many people don't eat meat. Good news for them, fast food joints are offering more meatless options. The new one this month is Burger King's 'Impossible Whopper.' The website Foodbeast posted a list of a few other vegetarian options that are out there. Obviously all sub shops like Subway and Jimmy John's have a veggie option. But There's lots of other that do, too.

Here are five of the best:

  • Pancheros Tofusada option. One Twitter critic called it 'the best thing to happen to tofu.' This tasty option can replace any meat based protein in your burrito, taco, bowl, etc. Mixed with veggies, beans, rice and salsa... you won't even notice you're not eating meat.
  • Taco Bell's 7-Layer Burrito. It's been a go-to option for vegetarians since 1993.  It has beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream.  So it's pretty filling, and clocks in at about 500 calories. (There's no lard in the beans, either.)
  • Five Guys' Custom Grilled Cheese. You can put any of their toppings on it, like grilled onions or grilled mushrooms. So it's not just cheese-and-bread.
  • Wendy's' Cheese Baked Potato. They don't consider it an entrée, but it can be if you pile enough toppings on there. One potato is about 450 calories.

Travelling? You can check out more options you won't find here in Northeastern Iowa.

Enjoy!
