A young Northeast Iowa man has now been arrested in connection to a deadly Clayton County accident from about a month ago.

On Monday (March 19), the Iowa State Patrol and Clayton County Sheriff, working together, took 20-year-old Kory Doeppke of Elkader into custody, charging him with two counts of Homicide by Vehicle.

The accident happened Friday, February 16th, just after 11pm, northwest of Edgewood. A car driven by Doeppke did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Littleport Road and East Mission Road, colliding with a pickup driven by 31-year-old Sean Chopard of Edgewood.

One of the passengers, 16-year-old Brady Edwards of Greeley, was ejected, and pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, 16-year-old Izaiah Drinkwater of Manchester, was also ejected. He was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City, but died on February 25th.

Doeppke is currently being held in the Clayton County jail on $20,000 bond.
