The family of Mollie Tibbetts has set up a memorial fund in her name to benefit Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

The hospital provides a full range of mental health services provided by psychologists, psychiatrists and an array of other professionals to care for children and adolescents. The fund has already raised approximately $20,000.

Tibbetts' mother, Laura Calderwood, thanked the public for their support: "We are incredibly thankful to everyone who has contributed to Mollie’s fund ... She was incredibly generous in her life, so it is fitting that her name will live on by benefiting others."

Tibbetts was pursuing a degree in Child Psychology prior to her death. The 20-year-old University of Iowa student was abducted and murdered this summer near her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa. Her alleged killer, Cristhian Bahena Rivera, is set to face trial in April 2019.
