We're just about to slide into fall, but the cold chill of winter is soon to follow. However, this year's winter might be less harsh than normal.

The Farmer's Almanac is the go-to guide for weather. It does an outstanding job of predicting weather patterns very far in advance. The Almanac reports "this winter is expected to be a bit more 'normal' as far as the temperatures are concerned, especially in the eastern and central parts of the country."

There is a chance for above-average amounts of precipitation, but Iowa is expected to avoid a lot of the bitter cold and extreme conditions we've felt in recent years. That sounds good, right? Most people like snow, but they don't like that the air hurts their faces as soon as they walk outside.

Now, let's drink in these last few precious days of summer before we have to get out the scarves and mittens...it'll be sooner than you think.
