Another round of severe winter weather is expected to hit Eastern Iowa by the end of the weekend.

CBS 2 predicts a wintry mix will begin in southern Iowa after sunset and move in from south to north overnight Sunday into Monday. Freezing rain should make its way through our area around 9 p.m. and could be persistent for several hours before temperatures rise above freezing. Forecasters predict up to a quarter-inch of ice throughout Eastern Iowa.

Travel is not recommended due to the icy roadways. However, the ice is expected to turn to rain by Monday. Warmer temperatures should move into the area, with highs reaching the upper 40s at the end of next week.
