Construction crews have completed a bridge replacement project on Iowa Highway 175 in Grundy County.

The new bridge on the west side of Morrison is now open to traffic, Iowa Department of Transportation officials said in a news release Thursday morning. Work to replace the old bridge took about four-and-a-half months to complete.

Iowa 175 has been closed since April 1, when the project began. Initially, construction wasn't expected to be finished until Aug. 30 at the earliest.

With the bridge replacement work now complete, travelers no longer have to worry about delays and detours when driving between Grundy Center and Reinbeck. During the closure, traffic was routed around the work zone on a marked detour the followed Iowa Highway 14 and County Roads D-35 and T-53.
