A Northeast Iowa man accused of leading authorities on a high-speed chase through two area counties has pleaded not guilty, and a date has been set for his trial.

29-year-old Alexander Blaess of Cresco is charged with eluding and driving while barred.

Blaess made the plea in Howard County District Court on Monday (Nov. 19).

On September 28th, Blaess led authorities on a pursuit from Winneshiek County into Howard County. Troopers clocked Blaess at over 140 mph, but a passenger in that vehicle claimed they went as fast as 150 mph.

Blaess' trial is scheduled for January 9th, 2019.
