A Northeast Iowa farmer, who claimed his wife died from injuries in a fall, is now charged with First Degree Murder.


Emergency workers were called out on November 10th to a rural Earlville farm, on the report that 39-year-old Amy Mullis had been injured; she was taken to the local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Her husband, 42-year-old Todd Mullis, told authorities that Amy sustained her fatal injuries in a fall on their rural Earlville property.

An investigation began, and on Thursday (Feb. 28), the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and Iowa DCI served an arrest warrant on Todd Mullis, for the charge of first-degree murder

According to a press release, Amy Mullis died from injuries that included multiple stab wounds to her back, with a corn rake. The Iowa State Medical Examiner ruled the death was a homicide. Results from the investigation will be turned over to the Delaware County Attorney's Office.

Todd Mullis remains in the Delaware County Jail in Manchester, held without bond.
