Residents of Oelwein may notice officers from the Oelwein Police Department canvassing neighborhoods, in an effort to help clean up the city.

The canvas will begin this Sunday, Aug. 4th; police will be checking for nuisance abatement violations.

The officers will be checking each of the four city quandrants, then notify a property owner if their land needs to be picked up or cleaned up.
If the problem is not addressed within a certain time period, the land owner would be cited.

Some of the violations police will be looking for include:
garbage, tree branches and yard waste, old appliances, junk vehicles, and dilapidated furniture.
