One Dies, Three Hurt In Separate Black Hawk County House Fires

One person was killed and three were injured in separate Black Hawk County house fires over the weekend.

The fatal fire destroyed a rural home east of Hudson. Authorities said they discovered a body in the debris after the 5 AM fire destroyed the home at 7216 Ansborough Ave. on Saturday.

Firefighters from Hudson, Gilbertville and La Porte City were all at the scene.

The cause of the fatal fire hasn't been determined. The State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.

The other fire damaged a house in Waterloo late Saturday night.

According to authorities, six people were inside the home in the 1000 block of Fulton Street when the fire began. Three were taken to a Waterloo hospital to be treated for undisclosed injuries, officials said.

The cause of the Waterloo house fire also remains under investigation.
