Authorities are warning motorists to be careful when traveling in rural areas of Black Hawk County.

With the recent rainfall amounts, and more in the forecast, several places are experiencing rising waters and flooded roadways.

On Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2018), sheriff's officials released a list of roads that were closed in Black Hawk County due to flooding. The following roads are currently under water:

  • Hoff Road between Orange Road and Shaulis Road, south of Waterloo
  • King Road between Bishop Road and Main Road, southeast of La Porte City
  • Watters Road between Hudson Road and Hollis Road, west of Hudson
  • West Mount Vernon Road between Streeter Road and Wagner Road, north of Waterloo Regional Airport
  • Big Rock between Rice Road and U.S. Highway 63, north of Waterloo
  • Cunningham Road between East Airline Highway and Barclay Road, northwest of Jesup
  • North Pilot Grove Road between Dunkerton Road (County Road C-66) and Lester Road, west of Dunkerton
  • Ford and Maxfield Roads between West Cedar Wapsi Road (County Road C-57) and Waverly Road (Old U.S. Highway 218), south of Janesville
  • Teem Road between Dunkerton Road (County Road C-66) and Black Hawk-Buchanan County line
  • Crane Creek Road between Bennington Road and East Mount Vernon Road, northwest of Dunkerton
  • East Gresham Road between North Elk Run Road (County Road V-43) and Crane Creek Road, northwest of Dunkerton
  • North Elk Run Road (County Road V-43) between Cedar Wapsi Road (County Road C-57) and Marquis Road, northwest of Dunkerton
  • East Bennington Road between North Raymond Road (County Road V-49) and North Elk Run Road (County Road V-43), northwest of Dunkerton
  • East Bennington Road between North Raymond Road (County Road V-49) and North Pilot Grove Road, northwest of Dunkerton
  • East Marquis Road from Crane Creek to Schenk Road/Oakland Ave., southeast of Denver

Fletcher Ave. is also closed through Hope Martin Park between University Ave. and Sergeant Road (U.S. Highway 63), due to flooding along Black Hawk Creek.

Sheriff's officials remind motorists never to drive through flooded roads, despite how little water may appear to be covering it.
