My musical theater career was short lived. It began in my high school theater in the early month of January 2014 and ended in May just before graduation. I realized I'm more of a "sit in the audience and silently judge others" sort of person so I won't be doing another anytime soon. The play you ask? Shrek the Musical.

Dressing up in a giant pig suit and inserting perhaps the worst German/Austrian hybrid accent you've ever heard, is no ones ideal performance, let alone their first. So you can imagine to my chagrin, seeing a local community group putting on Shrek the musical brings back a flood of haunting memories.

Yet, oddly enough, I REALLY want to go. The musical has been imprinted on my brain to the point I know all of the songs, and from time to time i find myself singing along to some of the catchy numbers. As an outsider, the show is fun, family friendly and quite colorful with an array of characters from all of your favorite childhood fairy tales.

Opening night begins June 5th, at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center at 10:30 a.m. If you're in the mood for a fun, family friendly event, I highly suggest heading over and seeing this show. If you should choose to go, just be prepare to hear me yell "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY SWAMP!?!?"
