An investigation into a stolen laptop computer in Charles City has resulted in three search warrants and three arrests for several area break-in's involving stolen guns.


The Charles City Police Department started the investigation Thursday (Dec. 27), when it was discovered that a stolen laptop had been found listed on a "for sale" group on a social media site.

A search warrant was obtained just before 2:30 p.m., and executed at an apartment in the 600 block of Milwaukee Street, where officers found the laptop.

Less than an hour later, a Floyd County Deputy pulled over a vehicle in the 2300 block of Highway 18, and arrested 22-year-old Troy Bijani of Mason City on three arrest warrants. Through the investigation, Bijani was also charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and 1st Degree Theft.

A passenger in his car, 24-year-old Xavier Frank of Charles City, was also taken into custody for 2nd Degree Burglary and 1st Degree Theft. More charges are pending.

About an hour later, a second search warrant was obtained, for the same apartment in Charles City, where officers then found many stolen handguns and drug-related items. The guns were reported stolen in a recent burglary.

The Charles City Police and Floyd County Sheriff then started a joint investigation, and just before 5:00 p.m. Thursday, 27-year-old Robert Luckett (the third) of Mason City man was arrested in a traffic stop, initially for drug paraphernalia. During the stop, more stolen guns and narcotics were found.

An additional search warrant was then obtained for a residence in the 200 block of 4th Avenue in Charles City, where narcotics-related items were confiscated, and officials also found more information into the stolen guns.

The investigation continues, and multiple charges are still pending against several people.
