Cross one more chore off the list.

It makes a lot of sense that if you pre-rinse the dishes then in the dishwasher they would just be blasted with soap and water and come out clean. But it's not really the case. They are not coming out as squeaky clean as you may think.

Dish washing detergent like Cascade has made numbers pleas to just put dishes directly into the dishwasher. The reason is that Cascade clings on to food particles that are on our dishes and then cleans the plate or bowl. If you pre-rise the dish then there is nothing for the detergent to cling on to and it won't clean your plate as well.

Also, newer model dish washers (5 years or newer), actually have senors in them to determine how much dirt particles are in the water. It's a water and energy saving tool so as soon as the water is clean, the dishwasher shuts off. So the dishes are not getting a thorough wash if you pre-rinse them.
