According to KCCI, "Findings from a survey by the Iowa Department of Public Health show an alarming trend in suicidal tendencies among teenagers."

The survey was taken by over 70,000 Iowa students in sixth, eight and 11th grade. I was shocked when the study indicated that 1 in 10 participants currently have a suicide plan. It was also reported that 1 in 20 of the students had made a suicide attempt in the last year.

Mental health is a serious problem in this country. It's something that needs to be taken very seriously. These numbers are way too high and we all need to find a way to lower the statistics.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24/7 and is free and confidential. It's there for support for people in distress and prevention and crisis resources for you and your loved ones. You can visit their web page at this link.
