Numerous young people are being cited for allegedly taking part in an underage beer party in Northeast Iowa.


On Saturday (March 3) at about 11pm, the Fayette County Sheriff was alerted of an underage party that involved drinking alcohol, located north of Westgate on 110th Street.

Deputies determined there were numerous people in possession of alcohol under the legal age. 10 of those were cited for possession. All were between 18 and 20 years old, and from the communities of Oelwein, Fairbank, Hazleton, Cresco, and Sumner.

Also 11 juveniles were referred to juvenile court services for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

In a separate incident, at about 2am Saturday, a Fayette County deputy pulled a vehicle over for an equipment violation. The driver, whose name was not released, was a minor, and was in possession of a quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver was referred to juvenile court services, and released to his parents.
