About a year and a half after an accident in which an area farmer died, reality TV star Chris Soules will be headed to trial next month.

The 36-year-old Soules was the driver of a truck that collided with a tractor in April of 2017 near Aurora; the accident took the life of 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher, the operator of the tractor.

Mosher's tractor ended up in the ditch; Soules called for help and stayed with Mosher until emergency workers arrived. He then fled the scene of the accident, but was later found at a residence, and initially refused to come out.

Soules is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. His trial is set to begin on November 7th. Today, he is scheduled to appear in Buchanan County District Court in Independence, for a pre-trial conference.

Soules' attorney is calling for a change of venue, as many area residents are familiar with Soules and his television appearances, and his family has farmed in the Arlington area for many years.

The defense in the case also points to several negative Facebook comments and online reactions to Soules and the upcoming trial. The prosecution is resisting the move.

Soules had appeared in ABC's The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars.
