I don't have any kids, but I know that when it happens, I'm going to have the WORST time choosing names. I'm generally not a fan of the "trendy" names and I don't think that every kid is a precious little snowflake that needs a unique spelling to show how special they are.

Usually this list is filled with names like that, but this year's is pretty tame.

BabyCenter.com compiled data from 400,000 users to determine their list of top names and combined names that sounded similar but had alternate spellings (such as "Jaxon" and "Jackson"). Despite my lack of parenting prowess, I'm always fascinated by this list--it's pretty in-depth and could help you find a name you hadn't even thought of.

If you are an expectant parent with trends on the brain, tech/science-inspired names were big in 2016. Cloud saw a 76% increase in boys, Newton advanced 44% and Rocket soared 24%. For girls, Siri, Alexa and Cortana (+ 36% from 2015) are certainly trending.

There was an uptick in comic-book-related names, as well--Harley (Suicide Squad) rose 35%, Banner (Incredible Hulk) saw a 48% increase, and Wade (after Wade Wilson, the true identity of Deadpool) moved up 15% from last year.

I'm glad I won't have to be worrying about this for a bit!
