Shopko has announced another round of store closings, and some eastern Iowa locations are on the list.

The financially-strapped retailer plans to shutter the locations in Oelwein, Cresco and Toledo by May 12, 2019. Liquidation proceedings are expected to begin at each of those stores in March.

Shopko currently operates 36 stores in Iowa. Of those, 24 are going out of business.

On Wednesday, the company released the list of more than 250 Shopko and Shopko Hometown stores that are being closed nationwide. The list included several locations in Iowa: Audubon, Bloomfield, Burlington, Cherokee, Clarinda, Clarion, Chariton, Cresco, Eldora, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Forest City, Fort Madison, Glenwood, Greenfield, Hampton, Ida Grove, Missouri Valley, Mount Ayr, Oelwein, Onawa, Toledo, Vinton and Webster City.

Shopko officials announced the Eldora, Vinton and Webster City store closings in December. The Eldora and Webster City locations are scheduled to close by March 2, followed by Vinton April 7.

Last month, the Wisconsin-based retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Shopko reported liabilities of between $1 billion and $10 billion dollars, and assets of less than $1 billion.

Right now, Shopko has about 360 stores in 24 states. Nearly 70-percent of those outlets are scheduled to close as part of the company's financial restructuring.
