Officers attempting to serve a narcotics warrant at a Waterloo home arrested a local teenager on drug and weapons charges Tuesday night.

Authorities said Aquarias Madlock, 18, was spotted walking in the neighborhood near 748 Rhey Street just before 11 PM. According to Waterloo police, Madlock attempted to run from officers, but was apprehended after a short foot chase.

During the pursuit, Madlock allegedly tossed away a loaded, .40-caliber handgun. Police said Madlock was also carrying a quantity of marijuana when they took him into custody.

Madlock was transported to the Black Hawk County Jail, where he was booked on the following felony charges: carrying weapons, interference with weapon, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and criminal gang participation.

Court records allege Madlock is a member of a street gang.
