With Women's Equality Day just around the corner, Monday, August 26 to be exact, where does our state rank in terms of Women’s Rights? The folks at WalletHub have the answers!

Before we get to Iowa's rank, and how it compares to our neighbors, here is the metric that WalletHub used:

To determine where women receive the most equal treatment, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 17 key indicators of gender equality. Our data set ranges from the gap between female and male executives to the disparity in unemployment rates for women and men. Read on for our findings, expert commentary and a full description of our methodology.

So with that, our home state is ranked... #13 (out of 50)

Not bad, with Minnesota being the only border state to rank higher, they came in at 7th overall. Wisconsin was 25th, Illinois a dismal 39th, North Dakota 26th and South Dakota 32nd.

Where Iowa ranked highest in women's rights was politically. In Political Empowerment we finished 6th overall.
