Young Driver Hurt in Tractor Rollover/Corn Spill

Emergency crews in Fayette County responded to a tractor rollover, in which one person was injured.

Just before 3pm Tuesday (Oct. 24), the Fayette County Sheriff was alerted of a farm tractor rollover at the intersection of "J" Avenue and 150th Street, north of West Union.

When officers arrived at the scene, they could not find the driver. Fearing that the driver could have been under the tractor, or buried under the corn that spilled from the wagon, a search began.

But while searching for the driver, he was located on another road about a mile from the crash.

19-year-old Devan Forbes of Harpers Ferry had been working for the Cannon Farm. He was taking a load of corn to a nearby dryer, but lost control, rolling the vehicle over.

Forbes was taken to the West Union hospital, to be treated for minor injuries.

The West Union Fire Department and West Union Police Department assisted the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
