Young Girl Seriously Hurt In Alleged Drunken-Mowing Mishap

A 3-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after being run over by a lawn mower, allegedly being operated by a man who was drunk.

Fayette County Sheriff's officials have charged Tanner Miller, 23, of Hawkeye with first-offense operating while intoxicated and serious injury by vehicle, a felony. The accident happened around 8:45 PM Wednesday on East Burger Street in Hawkeye.

Sheriff's officials say Miller was mowing outside a residence when he backed over the child. According to authorities, the injured child was treated at the scene by TriState Ambulance personnel before being airlifted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

The mishap remains under investigation by Fayette County sheriff's officials.
